About Martin Parr
Martin Parr (* 1952) was born in Epsom, Surrey - England and studied photography in Manchester between 1970 and 1973. Parr received the Royal Photographic Society’s Centenary Medal in 2008 for his significant contributions to photography. He also received an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Photographic Society that same year. Parr photographed British everyday life with all his bizarre, sad and comic facets, his ironic look made any weakness visible. Critics consider his photographic style too provocative and accused him of wanting to make fun of others. Martin Parr has published nearly 50 books and has been featured in over 80 exhibitions around the world.
Martin Parr (*1952) wurde in Epsom, Surrey - England geboren und studierte zwischen 1970 und 1973 Fotografie in Manchester. Parr erhielt 2008 die Hundertjährige Medaille der Royal Photographic Society für seine bedeutenden Beiträge zur Fotografie. Er erhielt auch ein ehrenamtliches Stipendium der Royal Photographic Society im selben Jahr. Parr fotografierte von Beginn an den britischen Alltag mit all seinen skurrilen, traurigen und komischen Facetten, sein ironisch angesetzter Blick ließ jede Schwäche sichtbar werden. Kritiker betrachteten seinen fotografischen Stil als zu provokant und warfen ihm vor, sich über andere lustig machen zu wollen. Martin Parr mehr als 50 Bücher veröffentlicht und wurde in über 80 Ausstellungen auf der ganzen Welt gezeigt.
