Since the beginning of the year 2022 Jonas Burgert and VogelART have been working together on the realisation of an edition. The colorfulness and depth of his works are to be reflected in the edition - gloomy and powerful colorful energy, fragile and frightening beauty.

The oil painting Schwindviech, which was created specifically for the edition, is challenging, intense, profound and full of emotion. This is exactly what the edition should reflect.

After the prints were finished, Jonas Burgert spent three months painting a large bird with oil paint on each of the 25 pieces. This made each work unique. The bird gives the work the depth and intensity, emotionally gripping. Through our special way of anagram scanning and digital printing, which was later varnished by hand, we have created an edition that is confusingly similar to the original. The edition has the color and feel of an original oil painting.

Schwindviech is an edition of 25 and has the format of 63 x 53 x 4 cm (24.8 x 20.9 x 1.6 in). The printed base motif was mounted on MDF, covered with a barrier and protective layer (hand varnished) and framed with an oak shadow gap frame. After a drying period of the oil paint, the edition was finished in early May 2023. Published by VogelART.

Jonas Burgert's (1969) works are overwhelming in format and content, oppressive and yet so full of color, contrasts and mystery. Modern on the one hand and at the same time timeless and infinitely strong. His mostly large monumental paintings and sculptures tell stories. Although they often appear gloomy, they have at the same time an expansive color splendor, which have something mystical, surreal and also threatening. Human existence with all its abysses, desires and fears is admitted. The creatures, persons he creates seem fragile and at the same time frightening - but with a beauty that attracts you. The images are the stage in which absurdities, contradictions, hopes and longings are presented. Jonas Burgert lives and works in Berlin.
