About Jorinde Voigt

Jorinde Voigt‘s drawings and sculptural works develop self-contained, rigorous systems to represent the overlapping of the inner world - personal experiences, emotions and memories - with external conditions. Her artistic approach is characterized by the creation of series that are often focused on specific themes and use a particular text or idea as a starting point. She conceives notation systems consisting of grids, line networks and patterns that translate parameters such as distance, speed or frequency into visual compositions. The examination of music and musical notation always plays an important role in her work.

Jorinde Voigt (1977) lives and works in Berlin. She completed her training in 2004 in Katharina Sieverding‘s master class at the UdK University of the Arts, Berlin. From 2014 to 2019 she held the position of Professor of Conceptual Drawing and Painting at the AdBK Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, Germany.
