"Ocean´s Crust" embodies the artistic confrontation with the last unexplored areas of our earth - the deep sea. It was inspired by the phenomenon of the so-called hydrothermal sources, which represent a kind of chemical laboratory of the earth (black smoker, white smoker, transparent smoker). Researchers suspect that life on our planet could have "ignited" under similar extreme conditions and that the first complex molecular compounds such as DNA were formed. The lowest sea areas form an ancient, complex and sensitive habitat from which all life forms probably originate. Benedikt Hipp has created this fascinating and complex theme as part of an exclusively produced edition for VogelART. The creation process of the special edition is identical to that of Hipp's original individual works. The editions Ocean´s Crust (Rutil) and Ocean´s Crust (Ilmenit) each consist of 15 copies. The Print is a hand pulled pigment emulsion transfer on primed MDF, waxed and polished to a semi glossy sheen (60 x 46 x 2 cm) were primed 8 times, printed and finally sealed with wax. Each work is unique. The works are signed and numbered and available at VogelART.
„Ocean´s Crust“ verkörpert die künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit den letzten noch unerforschten Gebieten unserer Erde - der Tiefsee. Inspiration lieferte das Phänomen der
sogenannten hydrothermalen Quellen, die eine Art Chemielabor der Erde darstellen (black smoker, white smoker, transparent smoker). Forscher vermuten, dass sich das Leben auf unserem Planeten
unter ähnlichen extremen Bedingungen „entzündet“ haben könnte, dass sich so die ersten komplexen Molekülverbindungen wie etwa DNA bildeten. Die untersten Meeresbereiche bilden einen uralten,
komplexen und sensiblen Lebensraum, dem vermutlich sämtliche Lebensformen entstammen. Das faszinierende und komplexe Thema setzt Benedikt Hipp im Rahmen einer exklusiv produzierten Edition für
VogelART um. Der Entstehungsprozess der Edition ist identisch mit dem von Hipps originalen
Einzelarbeiten. Die Edition Ocean´s Crust (Rutil) und Ocean´s Crust (Ilmenit) besteht jeweils aus einer Auflage von 15 Exemplaren. Der Druck ist ein Pigment Emulsions Transfer, von Hand abgezogen
auf grundiertem MDF, gewachst und seidenglänzend poliert. (60 x 46 x 2 cm). Jede Arbeit ist einzigartig. Die Arbeiten sind signiert und nummeriert und bei VogelART erhältlich.
Benedikt Hipp was born in Munich in 1977. He lives and works in Munich and Amsterdam. Hipp studied at the academies of fine arts in Nuremberg, Munich and Bologna and graduated in 2007 with the painter Sean Scully. His paintings, some of them large format, are painted and varnished with oil paints on wood. Hipp’s idiosyncratic visual language is further broadened through his use of titles, often hinting at the artist’s complex conceptual and philosophical engagement with the world of today, but also the past. The pictures unfold a suggestive power that captivates the viewer. The artist celebrated great success early on. His works have been shown in various international institutions, including the CAPC Museum für zeitgenössiche Kunst in Bordeaux, the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, the Städtische Galerie in Nordhorn, the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, the Filmmuseum Amsterdam, the FM Centro per l‘Arte Contemporanea Milano, the Museo d‘Arte Contemporanea di Lissone and the Haus der Kunst in Munich (2018). In 2012 he participated in „Made in Germany zwei“ at the Kunstverein Hannover / Sprengel Museum Hannover. Hipp presented solo exhibitions at the Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen, the Kunstpalais in Erlangen, the Kunstverein in Bielefeld and the Museum Villa Rot. His works are part of international collections. He is represented by the galleries Galerie Kadel Willborn (Düsseldorf), MONITOR Gallery (Rome/Lisbon) and Galarie Nicolas Krupp in Basel.
Benedikt Hipp wurde 1977 in München geboren, er lebt und arbeitet in München und Amsterdam. Hipp studierte an den Akademien der Bildenden Künste in Nürnberg, München und Bologna, und schloss sein Diplom 2007 bei dem Maler Sean Scully ab. Von besonderer Wirkmacht sind die teilweise großformatigen Gemälde, mit Ölfarben auf Holz gemalt und gefirnisst. Hipps eigenwillige Bildsprache wird durch die Verwendung von Titeln weiter ausgebaut, was oft auf die komplexe konzeptionelle und philosophische Auseinandersetzung des Künstlers mit der Welt von heute, aber auch der Vergangenheit hinweist. Dabei entfalten die Bilder eine Suggestivkraft, die den Betrachter in den Bann zieht. Der Künstler feierte schon früh große Erfolge. Seine Arbeiten wurden in verschiedenen internationalen Institutionen gezeigt, darunter das CAPC Museum für zeitgenössiche Kunst in Bordeaux, die Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, die Städtische Galerie in Nordhorn, das Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, das Filmmuseum Amsterdam, das FM Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Milano, das Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Lissone und das Haus der Kunst in München (2018).
