The TAGO edition by Christian Achenbach was created for VogelART in the spring of 2026. The edition is an
archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Museum Etching paper, which was then mounted on wood and varnished with hemp. Christian Achenbach has hand-colored each of the 15 works with additional oil
paint interventions. This results in individual variations within the edition – a more unique serial edition – each work develops its own atmosphere, color and spatial depth. The moon is the
basis for the colour scheme of each motif, the sea, the trees and the surroundings are all rendered in the moon’s colour spectrum.
The combination of precise printing technology and direct painterly intervention makes the creation process visible and gives each edition a special physical
presence. Between reproduction and original, a work is created that condenses the central quality of Achenbach’s practice: the continuous interplay of control, intuition and
transformation.
Die Edition TAGO von Christian Achenbach entstand für VogelART im Frühjahr 2026. Die Edition ist ein
Archival Pigmentdruck auf Hahnemühle Museum Etching Papier, der anschließend auf Holz montiert wurde und von Hand gefirnisst wurde. Christian Achenbach hat jede der 15 Arbeiten durch zusätzliche
malerische Eingriffe mit Ölfarbe handkoloriert. Dadurch ergeben individuelle Variationen innerhalb der Edition – eine unikatere serielle Edition – jede Arbeit entwickelt ihre eigene Atmosphäre,
Farbigkeit und räumliche Tiefe. Der Mond bildet die Grundlage für die Farbgebung, des jeweiligen Motiv, das Meer, die Bäume und Umgebung sind jeweils in dem Farbspektrum des Mondes.
Die Verbindung aus präziser Drucktechnik und direkter malerischer Intervention macht den Entstehungsprozess sichtbar und verleiht jeder Edition eine besondere
physische Präsenz. Zwischen Reproduktion und Original entsteht so ein Werk, das die zentrale Qualität von Achenbachs Praxis verdichtet: das kontinuierliche Wechselspiel von Kontrolle, Intuition
und Transformation.
Christian Achenbach studied at the Berlin University of the Arts under Burkhardt Held, Daniel Richter, and Anselm Reyle, where he developed a distinctive visual language situated between psychedelic landscape painting, abstraction, and pop aesthetics. His work has been presented internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and North America, including exhibitions at KÖNIG GALERIE in Berlin and Mexico City, Galerie Isa in Mumbai, Hans Alf Gallery in Copenhagen, Galerie Mazzoli in Berlin and Modena, and Kenna Xu Gallery in China.
His work has also been featured in museum and institutional exhibitions, including at the Vendsyssel Kunstmuseum (Denmark), Kunstraum Düsseldorf, Museum Abtei Liesborn, and the project space of the German Artists’ Association (Deutscher Künstlerbund).
Achenbach’s works are held in significant private and public collections throughout Europe, the United States, and Asia, including the Arken Museum in Ishøj (Denmark), G2 Kunsthalle Leipzig, the Kiran Nadar Museum (India), and the Arvind Museum in Ahmedabad (India).
Christian Achenbach studierte an der Universität der Künste Berlin bei Burkhardt Held, Daniel Richter und Anselm Reyle und entwickelte dort eine eigenständige Bildsprache
zwischen psychedelischer Landschaft, Abstraktion und Pop-Ästhetik. Seine Arbeiten wurden international in zahlreichen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen in Europa, Asien und Nordamerika gezeigt,
darunter bei der KÖNIG GALERIE in Berlin und Mexico City, Galerie
Isa in Mumbai, der
Hans Alf Gallery in Kopenhagen, oder Galerie Mazzoli in Berlin und Modena,sowie Kenna Xu Gallery in China.
Museale und institutionelle Ausstellungen fanden unter anderem im Vendsyssel Kunstmuseum (Dänemark), im Kunstraum Düsseldorf, im Museum Abtei Liesborn sowie im Projektraum des Deutschen
Künstlerbundes statt.
Seine Werke befinden sich in bedeutenden privaten und öffentlichen Sammlungen in Europa, den USA und Asien, darunter das Arken Museum in Ishøj (Dänemark), die G2 Kunsthalle Leipzig, das Kiran
Nadar Museum (Indien) sowie das Arvind Museum in Ahmedabad (Indien).
