Daniel Richter's new edition “Wenn sie da sind” is his first collaboration with VogelART. The edition ‚Wenn sie da sind’ draws on the energy and raw immediacy of one of his early works from 2001. Inspired by Richter‘s early period – expressive, schematic and charged with symbolic undertones – ‚Wenn sie da sind‘ remains remarkably contemporary and timeless in its impact.

The edition reveals a transitional moment in Richter’s practice: rooted in figuration yet leaning toward abstraction, gestural yet controlled. It is an image that confronts us with both the past and the present – visually striking and emotionally resonant.

Each of the 15 edition is produced using high-quality archival pigment printing, then mounted and framed with great care. The reproduction was very elaborate, with a new handcrafted technique. Die Edition „Wenn sie da sind“ von Daniel Richter ist die erste Zusammenarbeit mit VogelART. Die Edition „Wenn sie da sind“ greift die Energie und rohe Unmittelbarkeit eines seiner frühen Werke aus dem Jahr 2001 auf. Inspiriert von Richters früher Schaffensperiode - expressiv, schematisch und mit symbolischen Untertönen aufgeladen - bleibt „Wenn sie da sind“ in seiner Wirkung bemerkenswert zeitgemäß und zeitlos.

Die Edition offenbart einen Übergangsmoment in Richters Praxis: in der Figuration verwurzelt und doch zur Abstraktion neigend, gestisch und doch kontrolliert. Es ist ein Bild, das uns sowohl mit der Vergangenheit als auch mit der Gegenwart konfrontiert - visuell beeindruckend und emotional mitreißend.

Jedes der 15 Exemplare wurde im hochwertigen Archivpigmentdruck hergestellt und anschließend mit großer Sorgfalt montiert und gerahmt. Die Reproduktion war sehr aufwendig, mit einer neuen handwerklichen Technik. Das Ergebnis ist ein Werk, das die Lebendigkeit und Oberflächenspannung des Originalgemäldes bewahrt. Daniel Richter (* 1962) was born in Eutin, Schleswig-Holstein, and lives and works in Berlin. He studied from 1992 to 1996 at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg under Werner Büttner, who, alongside other artists such as Martin Kippenberger, was part of the expressive revival of painting in the 1980s, and later worked as an assistant to Albert Oehlen.

Extensive solo exhibitions of his works have been shown at Kunsthalle Kiel (DE), K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen (DE), National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa (CA), Hamburger Kunsthalle (DE), Kunstmuseum Den Haag (NL), CAC Málaga (SP), Denver Art Museum (USA), Thaddaeus Ropac, London (UK), Kunsthalle Tübingen(DE), Regen Projects, Los Angeles(USA), GRIMM, New York (USA), Camden Art Centre, London (UK), Galerie Sabine Kunst, Munich (DE), Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt (DE), Esbjerg Art Museum (DK), Museum der Moderne Rupertinum, Salzburg (AU) David Zwirner, New York (USA), Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Basel (CH), Museum Kampa, Prague, (CR), G2 Kunsthalle, Leipzig (DE), Tripostal, Lille (FR).

In 2015, the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt dedicated a retrospective to him, followed by a monographic exhibition that was shown from 2016 to 2017 at the Camden Art Centre in London, the 21er Haus in Vienna and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark. More recent presentations of his work include the group exhibition Radical Figures: Painting in the New Millennium at the Whitechapel Gallery, London. In 2022, the Ateneo Veneto in Venice hosted a solo exhibition that coincided with the 59th Venice Biennale. In 2023, a major solo exhibition was presented at the Kunsthalle Tübingen.
