bitebitE is the third edition published by VAN HORN and VogelART with Jan Albers. The edition was created for the Freunde des Kunstmuseums Bonn e.V. (Friends of the Bonn Art Museum). In contrast to the first two editions we did with Jan Albers, the new edition is much more massive. bitebitE needs space. Takes space. Gives space. The work seems almost as if it had been shot out of a wall. Solid, angular and elegant at the same time. A wall sculpture made of bronze, black matt patinated, weighing approx. 15kg. The edition was also created for the Freunde des Kunstmuseums Bonn e.V. in a total edition of 30 copies. The edition is available from the Friends of the Kunstmuseum Bonn, Galerie VAN HORN and VogelART.
bitebitE ist die dritte Edition die VAN HORN und VogelART mit Jan Albers herausgebracht hat. Die Edition entstand u.a. für den Freunde des Kunstmuseums Bonn e.V. Im Gegensatz zu den ersten beiden Editionen , die wir mit Jan Albers gemacht haben, ist die neue Edition wesentlicher massiver. bitebitE braucht Raum. Nimmt Raum. Gibt Raum. Die Arbeit wirkt fast so, als käme sie aus Wand geschossen. Massiv, kantig und elegant zugleich. Eine Wandskulptur aus Bronze, schwarz-matt patiniert mit einem Gewicht von ca. 15kg. Die Edition entstand auch für den Freunde des Kunstmuseums Bonn e.V. in einer Gesamtauflage von 30 Exemplaren. Erhältlich ist die Edition über den Freundeskreis des Kunstmuseum Bonn, Galerie VAN HORN und VogelART.
Jan Albers (1971 in Wuppertal) is a German artist who lives and
works in Düsseldorf. Albers studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1992 to 1998, among others with Jan Dibbets. After studying painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, he felt early on that
working within the established protocols of color and canvas set limits. In his practice, he folds, pours, paints, shapes, flatters, and presses material to create objects that merge and enliven
the orthodoxies of the predominant genres. His expansive, abstract reliefs sometimes remind us of photographs of distant planets or mountain massifs, sometimes of urban architecture or the formal
reduction of American Minimal Art. Jan Albers is considered one of the central positions of abstract contemporary art. In 1996 he exhibited his own works for the first time at the Galerie Lukas
& Hoffmann in Cologne. In 2003 his first institutional solo exhibition entitled "Transistor" took place at the Museum Het Valkhof in Nijmegen. Since then there have been continuous
exhibitions in museums and galleries in Germany and abroad. Since 2005 Jan Albers has been represented by gallery VAN HORN in Düsseldorf.
Jan Albers (1971 in Wuppertal) ist ein ist ein deutscher Künstler und lebt und arbeitet in Düsseldorf. Albers studierte von 1992 bis 1998 an Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, u. a. bei Jan Dibbets. Nachdem er an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf Malerei studiert hatte, spürte er schon früh, dass das Arbeiten innerhalb der etablierten Protokolle von Farbe und Leinwand Grenzen setzt. In seiner Praxis faltet, gießt, malt, formt, schmeichelt und drückt er Material, um Objekte herzustellen, die die Orthodoxien der vorherrschenden Gattungen verschmelzen und beleben. Seine raumgreifenden, abstrakten Reliefs erinnern manchmal an Fotografien von fernen Planeten oder Bergmassiven, manchmal an urbane Architekturen oder die formale Reduktion der amerikanischen Minimal Art. Jan Albers gilt als eine der zentralen Positionen der abstrakten Gegenwartskunst. 1996 stellte er in der Kölner Galerie Lukas & Hoffmann erstmals eigene Werke aus. 2003 fand eine erste, institutionelle Einzelausstellung seiner Werke unter dem Titel „Transistor“ im Museum Het Valkhof in Nimwegen statt. Seitdem gab es fortlaufend weitere Ausstellungen in Museen und Galerien des In- und Auslandes. Seit 2005 wird Jan Albers von Galerie VAN HORN in Düsseldorf vertreten.
