About Wolfgang Tillmans

Wolfgang Tillmans (*1968) lives and works in Berlin. He is a German photographer and his works involve a close observation of his environment, as well as an investigation of the fundamental principles of photography. In 2000 he was the first photographer and non-Briton to win the renowned Turner Prize. He was awarded the Culture Prize of the German Society for Photography and is a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin and a member of the Royal Academy of Arts, London (RA). In 2015 Wolfgang Tillmans received the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography. Wolfgang Tillmans’ works are to be found in international museums and private collections. 

Wolfgang Tillmans (*1968) lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Er ist ein deutscher Fotograf, seine Arbeiten sind durch aufmerksame Beobachtung seiner Umwelt, zum anderen durch die Erforschung der Grundlagen der Fotografie geprägt. 2000 wurde ihm als erstem Fotografen und Nichtengländer der renommierte Turner Prize verliehen. Er erhielt den Kulturpreis der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Fotografie und ist Mitglied der Akademie der Künste Berlin sowie Mitglied der Royal Academy of Arts, London (RA). 2015 wurde Wolfgang Tillmans mit dem Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography ausgezeichnet.
